Welcome Coach Danny

Updated: Dec 10, 2018

I am pleased to announce that Daniel (Danny) Nagy has joined our team as the Director of Goal Keeping.  He will be responsible for helping me to develop the goalie training curriculum and plans for technical goalie training classes. I have watched Coach Danny throughout his soccer career as he developed and honed his skills as an accomplished goal keeper.

Coach Danny has deep knowledge of and understands the old school and new school train of thought for goal keeper training. We share the same vision to bring both trains of thought to Excel to ensure that our athletes learn a variety of techniques to become strong goalkeepers. Together, Coach Danny and I will be combining modern techniques in a realistic environment using a full-size goal.

Danny is completing his senior year at Notre Dame College with a major in sports management. Notre Dame is a NCAA Division II institution and a charter member of the Mountain East Conference.  In his most accomplished season, Danny started 12 games in goal for the Falcons and secured six shutouts and recorded a team-best 35 saves on the season. He had a 7-5 record in his 12 starts. He is a 2013 graduate of North Royalton High School and was a three year letter winner for the Bears. In 2012, he was Second Team All Ohio, First Team All North East Ohio Conference, First Team Greater Cleveland, Team MVP, Team Captain. Throughout his high school games, Danny had 177 total saves.

Since 2016, Danny has been an Assistant Coach at Cleveland Select Futbol Club where he is engaging and building strong soccer athletes. This past year, he joined as Assistant Head Coach at Orange High School, where he was responsible for the growth and development of young men. Now he continues his coaching career by joining Excel Soccer Skills.  Welcome Coach Danny!
