New Year’s Message: Keep It Simple!

For the past two years, we have started each new year with a celebration at Excel Soccer Skills to thank all of our families. Since we cannot have a party to celebrate, I wanted to send this note of appreciation to all of the athletes and their families. While 2020 was a difficult year in many ways, I also know that the Excel Soccer athletes trained hard and continued to work on their technical, tactical, physical and mental skills required for success in the game. I’m proud of each and everyone of our athletes.

As we enter into 2021, it is a tradition to start thinking of New Year’s Resolutions. This year, I would like to encourage everyone to adopt the following resolution: “Keep It Simple”. Often in soccer, we can over think our plays or our passes. We want to do something “magical” on the field. This does not mean that you don’t think outside of the box and be creative. Elements of surprise are good. But keep your plays simple. Remember to do the fundamentals right within the principles of play. Technique, technique, technique. Being consistent is extremely important. While this sounds easy to do, it is actually the hardest to do on the field. Hopefully, this resolution will guide you to greater success in 2021.

Lastly, I did have a few updates for our Excel Soccer Skills families:

Class Size: Even before the pandemic, our max class number is ten. We stand by our philosophy to keep the classes small. This means that we will have waiting lists for certain classes. We ask that you notify as soon as possible if you are unable to attend class so we can notify individuals on the waiting list.

Masks: Masks during classes are optional for the athletes. We want our athletes to do what they feel is most comfortable to keep them healthy and safe. We understand that athletes might not be able to wear a mask due to other physical health needs such as asthma.

Waiting Room: We will continue to keep our waiting room closed for the time being. We can’t wait to reopen as soon as we can.

We are doing our best to take necessary precautions during the pandemic and help our athletes grow their skills. It is incredible how much help we receive from our athletes and families to be diligent and responsible to our facility and to each other.

I’m so thankful to have gotten to know so many athletes. It is truly a pleasure to work with our Excel Soccer families. I know that 2021 is going to be a great and successful year!

And remember to put some sauce on it!

Cheers, Coach Tibi
